Repairs

Welcome to the workshop.
My customers come from a pretty wide catchment area,
including Somerset, Wiltshire and the city of Bath, some twelve
miles away. Business usually comes through word-of-mouth recommendation,
and several local music shops send their customers my way.
I work on any kind
of instrument with frets, (and some without), from valuable
antique instruments to strange dusty things dragged down from
the attic. I can tackle anything from a straightforward set-up,
(however well an instrument plays straight out of
the shop, it can usually be persuaded to play even better, with
a set-up geared to your own particular style of playing , string
gauges, etc.), through re-frets, neck and headstock breaks,
new bridges, cracks, refinishing, electronic overhauls, pickup
installation and so on, to complete rebuilds.
I know some makers
get frustrated about having to do repairs, but, as long as I
still have time to build instruments, every guitar that comes
in for repair teaches me a little more about what works, and
what doesn`t - useful knowledge when it comes to my own designs.
If you have an instrument
you`d like repaired, you can e-mail
me the details, phone or write, (see Contact
page). Although I can`t always quote a definite price without
seeing what needs doing, I can often give a rough estimate.
Customers are often
surprised to find out just what can be fixed - you
don`t necessarily have to write off that smashed, but much loved
instrument, but if you are throwing something
away, throw it at me, I can use the bits!
